Released in May 1958, the FC replaced the FE at a time when Holden's market share had hit 50.3%. The changes over the FE were not great but together made for a smoother and more refined car. Exterior changes were made to the grille and body decorations. Beneath the skin was a redesigned interior and several mechanical improvements including increased torque from the 'grey engine' with an altered camshaft and a further increased compression ratio.
Minor improvements were made to the suspension, brakes, gearchange linkages and steering box. Performance, ruggedness and excellent value for money were still major drawcards, in total of 191,724 were built.
This is another of our super Holden finds, with a genuine 62,000 miles from new it looks and feels like a new car, in fact the motor runs so silently you have to stop youself from trying to start it when it is actually running.
This FC Special has been pampered all its life by its 3 owners and much of the paint on the car is original and still in excellent condition, the trim also is original and immaculate, to drive the car you can imagine it feels and smells exactly like it would have when picked up from the dealer in 1959-super!
Come down and take a look, I’m sure many of you would have spent some time as a child sat in the back seat on family holidays, why not give your children that same priceless experience.
