Launched in 1955 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the MG A has grown to become one of the most iconic British sports cars ever produced. Over 100,000 units were built and the MG A became the most exported car out of Britain during the 50′s.

This superb late model example was delivered new to the Lancashire Constabulary in July 1960. Yep, this is a complete Lancashire Police Specification MG A! There were some 17 alterations MG made to standard spec cars for the police vehicles, including a special high speed accuracy speedometer, disc brakes, uprated engine dynamo for increased power and a specialized chassis frame. Overall, the constabulary MGA′s were faster and offered much better handling than the standard cars.

This late model 1600 cc example was brought into Australia in 2011 and benefits from a flawless restoration with no expense spared. Rebuilt from the ground up and out of a dry storage facility this gorgeous classic comes with a brand new tonneau cover, MG tools and an extensive history file containing all invoicing for restoration work and photos taken along the way, a production record certificate and lots more.

Driving this car will allow you some understanding of the detail and craftsmanship it takes to get a car to this level. Nothing has been overlooked on this restoration and the performance upgrades that come with the Police spec are noticeable as you twist through winding weekend roads. It′s time to pull on your driving cap and slip into your driving gloves and enjoy a quintessential British sports car ride.
