The MG Midget was the smaller brother to the MGB Roadster and was an early example of badge engineering along with the slightly cheaper Austin Healey Sprite. They were produced from 1961 right up until 1980 and total production exceeded 225,000, the last model was the 1500 and unfortunately by this stage it had succumbed to US federal requirements with the big, ugly rubber bumper bars.

The model we have here is, I think the most desirable of the Midgets produced, the engine was upgraded to 1275cc, using a slightly detuned Cooper ‘S’ engine producing 65bhp, it also has twin SU carburettors and a disc brake front end.

Finished in British Racing Green with Black trim and chrome wire wheels it really is the archetypal British sports car colour scheme and is in super order throughout. It has benefitted from some ‘sporty’ upgrades such as roll bar, wood rimmed sports steering wheel, extra gauges to monitor oil pressure and charging system and stylish bullet mirrors.

A great car for weekend fun and available at a fraction of the restoration cost, this car is ready for the road with all work completed.
